Amman – The Civil Status and Passports Department signed a partnership agreement with the Jordan Post to deliver the passport renewal transactions to Jerusalemites.
The Director General of the Department of Civil Status and Passports Fawaz Al-Shahwan said that the signing of the agreement emerged from the permanent directives of His Majesty the King to support the steadfastness of Jerusalemites and to protect the Arab identity of the city of Jerusalem.
Shahwan added that under this agreement the passport renewal transactions would be accepted in the Islamic courts in Jerusalem.
He pointed out that the Islamic Courts in Jerusalem will receive applications for the renewal of Jerusalem residents passports accompanied with all the required identification documents in accordance with the legal procedures followed. The Jordan Post will receive these applications in coordination with its partners to deliver them to the Civil Status and Passports Department, in order to print Jerusalemites passports then deliver them back the Jordan Post and handing them over duly to their owners in Jerusalem by their partners.
Al-Shahwan added that the agreement came as a specific service provided by the Department to enable Jerusalemites to renew their passports easily and smoothly.
On the other hand, the Director General of the Jordan Post Dr. Khaled Theeb Al-Lahham said that the transfer of the passport renewal transactions of the Jerusalemites is a qualitative addition to the services provided by the Jordan Post and a way to expand its local and regional services.
